The specialty of vascular surgery is one of the new specialties. In most of the countries began to be independent specialty the decade of 1990.

Vascular Surgery deals with the pathology and treatment of the arteries, veins and lymphatic vessels of the human body except the vessels of the brain and the heart.

The development of the specialty was huge the last two decades with the new endovascular procedures and methods to win over the classic cold standards procedures. Thus the new endovascular procedures in most of the cases and with the right indications become the cold standard.

Dr Neophytos Zambas has been trained in the new methods like the endovascular repair of abdominal aneurysms, laser ablation of the great saphenous vein and foam sclerotherapy for varicose veins.

Peripheral artery balloon angioplasty and stenting for peripheral arterial disease, percutaneous balloon angioplasty and stenting for carotid artery disease and diabetic foot are Dr Zambas special interests.
